Hi ! This is a fork of JprestaSpeedPack, which completely isolates the on-the-fly conversion from JPEG to WebP (while choosing the desired quality, with a preview), with the addition of an option to force the extension if a host has issues detecting browser compatibility. 
I tried many webp support modules, but this is the only one that met my expectations. None of the others were useful to me; I only wanted this feature.
The big advantage is that it is completely painless to use. Installing/uninstalling it will have no impact and will not delete/overwrite your original images.
I hope you find this module, which is not available anywhere else, useful. I have also included instructions on how to modify the .htaccess file if your host's restrictions cause problems, as well as technical documentation on how the module works.
Tested only on Prestashop 1.7.x, please report about Prestashop 8.x and 9.x
