Something tells me that you did not understand my sarcasm. There is one simple truth - always stay updated, this is not a local program, this is a site available to everyone. If CMS does not receive security updates - you are at risk

Ensure that the version used is still getting (at least) security updates!
For the rest the version will be dependent on personal preference and your server setup - e.g. PHP MySQli versions etc.

version 69 is the best, it always works even if you reverse header and footer. What questions do you ask?, the latest version is always the best!

Actually you have no choice. Development cycles are fast, so I would start with v5, although 4 is a supported branch. WordPress can't compete with Joomla 5 out-of-the-box features. The new WordPress Gutenberg editor is not for everyone. I think , Joomla has a better and more modern structure than WordPress.

I like J3 but I am exploring J5. So far J5 looks real good.
I still prefer Joomla 4x, because my webhost HOSTGATOR does not offer the MYSQL 8x.
I used Joomla 3, Joomla 4 and recently on my own projects Joomla 5.
I've had to reproduce whole websites from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4, so I worked with both side by side and Joomla 4 from a user interface standpoint is better way cleaner and more intuitive to do mostly anything.
As far as Joomla 5, it's basically just Joomla 4 really (I am sure there's some new stuff, but not noticeable). I actually think the Joomla 5 update came as a PR move, because Wordpress updates way more regularly and it's bad for a "direct competitor" to not update as often.

TL;DR: Joomla 3 (less intuitive) , Joomla 4 = Joomla 5.
When a new major version of Joomla comes out, I usually stay with the previous release until I am confident the all the developers for the extensions I am using have worked out the bugs. For example, When Joomla 5 came out, I stuck with the latest version of Joomla 4 but always made sure to stick with the latest updates. As an example Joomla 5 was released in October 2023. At the same time Joomla 4.4 was published so I updated to 4.4.0, I am just now moving to Joomla 5.3 from Joomla 4.4.13 which is still supported by Joomla until October 16, 2025.
