At times the embedded utility doesn't work when the corruption rate of the Access Database is very high so it is advisable to use a third-party tool to repair the damage. One such software is DRS Softech Access Recovery Tool that helps in corruption issues. It is a tool that can repair any degree of corruption and any size of Access database files. There are certain functionalities of the software which aren't available in the built-in utility of MS Access. Further, you can also Repair Access Database Error 2950 using this tool.

Steps to Repair Microsoft Access Database Files
1. Download and Run DRS Softech MS Access Database Recovery Tool.
2. Click the Open Button and Upload the MDB or ACCDB file which needs to be repaired.
3. Then Select the Recovery Mode based on how corrupted it is.
4. The software will scan the file and show preview of all the folders included in the Access Database File.
5. Then click on the Save option and specify where you wish to save the repaired file.
6. Your access database file will be fixed and you can see all the information included in it quite easily.

You’re right that the Compact & Repair utility built into Access is the first thing to try, but it doesn’t always work if the database is badly damaged. In those cases, third-party tools can really help. The DRS tool you mentioned is one option — I’ve also seen people have success with Stellar Repair for Access, which can open corrupted MDB/ACCDB files and recover tables, queries, and reports when the standard utility fails. Whichever tool you go with, it’s always a good idea to keep regular backups so you don’t get stuck if corruption happens again.
