For my cases (several sites), I updated Joomla 4 sites to Joomla 5, and nothing broke. The only issue could be the requirement of mySQL 8, but if your hosting has it, then I think the next possible issue is the compatibility of the extensions.

I have finally created a site in Joomla 4, and I like it a lot. The only issue for me is that some items moved into new places (global configuration, modules, templates), and it makes you have to do an extra click to access it. But now at least it allows you customize the various dashboards...
